Bowl meals style are under testing for the Mediterranean Diet Pyramid

Steak fajita bowl

This is a modern Mexican style open fajita with brown rice, NY steak, stewed black beans, pico de gallo, romaine lettuce, guacamole, and white cheddar cheese.

Chef Giuseppe Urbano is testing bowl style recipes inspired by a modern way of eating found in healthy fast food restaurants. He strives to create dishes that are both nutritious and flavorful, using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The recipes will be created to meet a variety of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Customers of the chef wanted to be able to eat in a contemporary manner while still feeling satisfied by the Mediterranean diet, so the chef adopted the trend and rearranged the recipes to conform to the proportions and frequencies of the New Modern Mediterranean Pyramid. This means that customers can enjoy dishes that are both delicious and healthy without sacrificing flavor or tradition. The chef's creative take on the Mediterranean diet has been well received by customers, who like how each dish is both tasty and healthy.

We have developed a base recipe that we can use to make various entrees as a result of our highly successful tests. The idea behind this way to eat is that a bowl dish has all the parts of a full, complete meal: starch, protein, vegetables, and sometimes even fruit. All of these parts are put together in a fun and interesting way to give a meal a great taste. Furthermore, bowl dishes are frequently customizable to meet individual dietary needs and preferences, making them a versatile option for any meal. They can also be a convenient way to meal prep for the week ahead, saving time and effort in the kitchen.

In the fall of 2023, these recipes will appear in our Mediterranean Diet e-recipe section and the DIY Mediterranean Diet weekly meal plan builder for you to choose from, to create a weekly menu the way you like.

Our executive chef has carefully crafted these recipes to ensure they are both delicious and nutritious, incorporating key components of the Mediterranean Diet such as fresh vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. We can't wait for you to try them out and get the most out of this heart-healthy diet!
